This is a friendly reminder that time is almost up to register your four legged friends!

Dog licenses are due by December 31st. However, the State does allow a 30 day grace period before a $25 late fee per dog is in effect (late fees start February 1st). All dogs 6 months of age or older are required to be licensed. Do licensing costs: $6.00 for fixed, $11.00 for unfixed. Please bring with you a copy of the required rabies certificate and spay/neutered certificate if applicable.

Due to the State of Maine notification of Closing of all State Offices on December 24th, 2025 due to inclement weather, the Town of Unity will also be closed due to inclement weather on December 24th, 2025. It is a Town Policy that when the State is closed, the town office follows as such.

The day before π Day (Pi = 3.1415126…), join our first annual Musical Pie Raffle, open to the whole community at the Clifford Arts & Student Center (42 Depot Street).

First students will participate in spring shenanigans by pieing a teacher in the face, then community members are warmly invited to circle up for the Musical Pie Raffle. It’s like musical chairs but if you win, you get a pie! 

Our amazing community has donated many pies - including gluten free, homemade and donated by the Belfast Co-op, Hannaford, and local bakeries.  Win a pie for π Day!

The Town of Unity is seeking a candidate for the position of the town Sexton.  Responsibilities will include but not limited to fielding phone calls for scheduling burials, assist in maintenance of cemetery records, help with cleaning and maintaining the stones in the cemetery. Submission by Wentworth Partners & Associates on behalf of Calito Development Group to construct 10,640 square feet, Dollar General Retail Store at 175 School Street, Map 11, Lot 32, 33-1, and Lot 33-3. This application has been accepted as a Development Permit due to the buildings and other impervious surfaces covering more than 20,000 square feet.

 You are receiving this notice pursuant to MRSA Title 30-A §4403 (3) (A). The applicants have also submitted an after-the-fact Lot Permit for a Subdivision (as defined in MRSA Title 30-A §4401) already created by a conveyance of land recorded in the Waldo County Registry of Deeds at Book 4921 Page 197 on July 25, 2023. This Lot Permit has been accepted as a Development Permit due to being a Subdivision and is being considered by the Planning Board concurrently with the slaughterhouse application. The Unity Planning Board voted at its 2/26/2025 monthly meeting to have an on- site meeting at the proposed Five Pillars Butchery House of Meats project site at 119 Bangor Road, Unity, Maine on 3/12/2025 at 4:30 pm. The public also has the right to attend this meeting under the Freedom of Access Act.
